Emily Chebet had a triumphant return to competition as she emerged victorious in the 2012-2013 season opener of the Kenyan National Cross Country Championship. The Kenyan athlete, and the 2010 world cross country champion, clinched the national title in impressive fashion.
Returning from a prolonged injury, Chebet showcased her resilience and skill in the final sprint to secure the win, holding off a competitive trio consisting of Janet Kisa, Gladys Chemweno, and Pauline Kayenha. The race was closely contested, with only eleven seconds separating the first and fourth-place finishers.
Chebet’s successful comeback sets the stage for her aspirations in the upcoming Kenyan season, with the ultimate goal of earning a spot in the selection for the 2013 World Cup in Poland.
