Kenya secured their first win under head coach Benni McCarthy with a 2-1 triumph over Chad in an international friendly played in Marrakech on Tuesday evening.
The Harambee Stars made a strong start, taking the lead in the opening stages through Emmanuel Osoro, who finished smartly from a tight angle inside the six-yard box.
Their momentum continued into the first half, and just before the break, David Sakwa doubled Kenya’s advantage to put them firmly in control.
Chad responded early in the second half, with Ali Mahamat Adam capitalizing on a defensive lapse to reduce the deficit and breathe life into the contest.
Despite mounting pressure from the Chadians, Kenya held firm to see out the match and record their first win since McCarthy took charge.
The former Manchester United striker will now be looking to build on this result as the Harambee Stars prepare for upcoming fixtures against Gambia and Seychelles in September.
