Kocaelispor are being linked with a move for FC Dinamo centre-back Kennedy Boateng, with the Romanian-based defender’s future uncertain and a potential free-agent scenario not ruled out.
The 29-year-old, who holds both Togo and Ghana nationality, is currently on the books of Dinamo in Romania’s SuperLiga but his contract details are unclear, with no expiry date registered. That has fuelled speculation in Türkiye that Kocaelispor could move either for a low-fee deal or position themselves should his contract be allowed to run down and he becomes a free agent.
Boateng, valued at €1.20m on Transfermarkt, has established himself as a physically imposing right-footed centre-back, standing at 1.91m and wearing the No 4 shirt for Dinamo. Born in Tamale on 29 November 1996, he is in what is typically considered the prime age bracket for defenders.
The SuperLiga defender is listed primarily as a central defender and is part of the FC Dinamo 1948 set-up. He has experience in Romanian top-flight football and his performances there have underpinned the current valuation attached to him in the transfer market.
There is, however, no formal indication that a deal with Kocaelispor is close, with the probability of a move currently marked only as “?” in transfer rumour listings as of 30 May 2026. No transfer fee or contract length has been disclosed and there is no confirmation on whether Dinamo intend to cash in or extend his stay.
With his market value relatively modest for a starting centre-back and his contractual situation opaque, Boateng’s situation is one clubs are likely to monitor closely in the coming weeks, and a move to the Turkish Süper Lig could yet prove a significant next step in shaping the trajectory and reputation of his career.
