Keletso Makgalwa: South African winger joins Simba SC from Sekhukhune

South African winger Keletso Makgalwa has joined Tanzanian giants Simba SC from Sekhukhune, strengthening the Dar es Salaam club’s attacking options ahead of the new campaign. The 29-year-old left-sided forward moves after a spell in South Africa’s Betway Premiership, where he built a reputation for his work from wide areas.

Makgalwa, who prefers to operate as a left winger but is right-footed, arrives at Simba with top-flight experience and a track record in domestic and continental competition. Standing at 1.70m and born in Mokopane, Limpopo, he brings both pace and mobility to the Tanzanian club’s front line.

The move follows a year at Sekhukhune, whom he joined in 2024 after a stint with Upington City. That spell with Upington came after a brief period without a club, which ended when he signed for the Northern Cape side in October 2023.

Before that, Makgalwa spent several seasons on the books of Mamelodi Sundowns, where he was part of one of the most successful squads in recent South African football history. During his time there he lifted the South African league title three times, in 2017-18, 2019-20 and 2020-21, and added a South African cup win in 2019-20.

Across his domestic career in South Africa’s top division, Makgalwa has made 120 league appearances, scoring 10 goals and contributing 20 assists, and has also featured in both the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup. He now begins the next chapter of his career in Tanzania, having completed his switch from Sekhukhune to Simba SC.
