Kelechi Iheanacho wins Scottish title with Celtic after dramatic final day

Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho has clinched his first Scottish Premiership title with Celtic following a breathtaking comeback victory over Hearts on the final day of the season.

Celtic secured their record-extending 56th league title in dramatic fashion, overturning a deficit to defeat Hearts and move ahead of Rangers in the all-time Scottish league standings. Hearts had led the championship race since September and only needed a draw to claim their first title since 1960.

Lawrence Shankland gave Hearts an early advantage, but Celtic produced a stunning late turnaround at Celtic Park. Arne Engels equalized from the penalty spot before Daizen Maeda fired home in the 87th minute, with VAR confirming the goal after initially being disallowed. Callum Osmand added a stoppage-time strike to complete the remarkable 3-1 comeback.

Iheanacho played a valuable supporting role in Celtic’s title triumph, making 13 appearances throughout the campaign and contributing five assists. The former Leicester City forward joined Celtic earlier this season and has now added a Scottish championship medal to his collection.

The result extends Celtic’s modern dominance with a fifth consecutive league title.
