Kekana remains hopeful of South Africa recall under Mosimane

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Grant Kekana remains confident he can earn a return to the South Africa squad despite being overlooked by new head coach Pitso Mosimane.

Kekana was not included in Mosimane’s squad for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea and Eritrea, or the friendly against Egypt.

The 31-year-old was also absent from the latter stages of Hugo Broos’ time in charge, ruling him out of contention for both the Africa Cup of Nations and FIFA World Cup tournaments.

Despite those setbacks, Kekana says he will continue to work hard while waiting for another opportunity with Bafana Bafana.

“I’m feeling good and better than I’ve been in the long time,” Kekana told SNAWA.

“It’s just for me to continue working, I think there’s still a chance for me but all the players that have been selected are fully deserving of their places.

“I think it’s going to be a nice time to watch them. Coach Pitso has got something to build.

“I think they will do well and for me it’s just about working hard and waiting for my turn.”
