Kazuyoshi Miura Extends His Career — Still Going Strong at 48!
Don’t mention retirement to Kazuyoshi Miura — he’s not interested.
The Japanese football legend, who will turn 48 this February, has just extended his contract with Yokohama FC, a club in Japan’s second division. Known for his incredible longevity, Miura shows no signs of slowing down.
With 89 caps and 55 goals for the Japanese national team, Miura has played across Brazil (Santos, Coritiba), Europe (Genoa, Dinamo Zagreb), and nearly 500 games in Japan. He continues to defy expectations.
His goal? To surpass the legendary Sir Stanley Matthews, the first-ever Ballon d’Or winner, who played professionally until the age of 50.
At this rate, Miura may not just match Matthews — he might go beyond.
