Rennes have secured the signature of Cercle Brugge winger Kazeem Olaigbe in a €4m deal, the clubs confirmed.
The 22-year-old will strengthen Rennes’ attack as they look to recover from a challenging first half of the Ligue 1 season. With the departures of Jota, who rejoined Celtic FC, and Amine Gouiri for a combined €30m, Rennes had been searching for a left-sided winger to bolster their options.
Olaigbe, who has made 31 appearances this season, scoring eight goals and providing one assist, comes to Stade Rennais after impressing in Belgium. The former Southampton youth product had also represented Belgium’s U21 national team.
The winger has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract, keeping him at Rennes until 2029. This signing follows a flurry of transfer activity by the club, which has been striving to turn its fortunes around after a difficult first part of the season. Rennes will now look to Olaigbe to contribute significantly to their push for improvement.
