Ibrahim Maza, the young Algerian international, continues to make headlines in the Bundesliga.

Since joining Bayer Leverkusen from Hertha Berlin last summer for €12 million, the 19-year-old midfielder has quickly become a key figure in the German squad. With a contract running until 2030, Leverkusen clearly trusts his talent and sees great potential in him.

After a rough start to the season, Maza’s determination turned things around. He’s now seen as indispensable for his club, impressing fans and analysts in both Bundesliga and Champions League matches. Coach Kasper Hjulmand, speaking to the German outlet Bild, had high praise: “For me, Maza has all the qualities to succeed at the highest level. What I especially appreciate is his versatility, he can play various positions in midfield and attack, which is critical in modern football.”

Hjulmand continued, “He’s very comfortable with the ball and creates dangerous chances as a playmaker. We’ll keep working with him to maximize his development, he’s still only at the start of his journey.” So far this season, Maza has played 14 matches, contributed three goals, and was named Leverkusen’s best player in his last three appearances.

Maza’s rapid rise reflects the new wave of Algerian talents thriving in Europe, giving hope for his future with both Leverkusen and the Algerian national team.
