Karim Adeyemi has thrilled fans with his speed, skill, and that trademark somersault after scoring.
For years, the Borussia Dortmund forward’s flips have been as anticipated as the goals themselves, adding an extra spark to his celebrations.
But lately, those acrobatics have been rare. It is not a loss of flair, just a matter of sense and self-care. Adeyemi admits that the change comes down to the wear and tear of years at the top level.
Coaches in the past have not always been thrilled about his mid-air routines. He recalls a time under Jesse Marsch when his goal celebrations were a point of tension.
Still, he says current boss Niko Kovac has no issue with it. “I haven’t heard anything from Niko about it,” Adeyemi told WAZ.
The main reason is more personal. “But after three years, my joints have changed,” Adeyemi said. “That’s why I don’t do the somersault as often anymore. You get older.”
