Former Algerian international Karim Ziani has voiced his approval of compatriot Mohamed Amoura’s transfer to VfL Wolfsburg, marking a significant move for Algerian football in the Bundesliga.
Mohamed Amoura, boasting 27 caps and 6 goals for Algeria, finalized his move from Union Saint-Gilloise to Wolfsburg after weeks of negotiations.
The transfer fee amounts to €18 million, structured with an initial €3 million paid this summer and the remainder spread over four years, excluding bonuses.
Amoura’s transfer makes him the first Algerian player to join Wolfsburg since Ziani’s tenure with the club in 2009.
Speaking to Compétition newspaper, Karim Ziani, known for his midfield prowess during his time at Marseille, endorsed Amoura’s decision to join the German outfit.
“He (Amoura) will be entering a top-tier league, the Bundesliga. His exceptional speed as a striker will undoubtedly aid his integration, as Wolfsburg sought him primarily for this attribute,” Ziani remarked confidently.
Ziani, reflecting on his own experience at Wolfsburg, expressed optimism about Amoura’s prospects in Germany. “During my time, Wolfsburg competed in the Champions League.
Now, with the team stabilizing, it provides an excellent environment for a talented newcomer like Amoura to thrive and elevate his game,” Ziani stated, highlighting the club’s potential to nurture the Algerian’s career.
“In Germany, it’s all about hard work and playing an aggressive style of football. Amoura’s speed aligns perfectly with this approach, which likely influenced Wolfsburg’s decision to sign him.
His speed is a valuable asset in modern football, and I have no doubt he will prove himself,” Ziani emphasized, underscoring the importance of Amoura’s playing style in Wolfsburg’s tactical setup.
Amoura’s move to Wolfsburg marks a significant step forward for Algerian football, with Ziani’s endorsement adding weight to the expectations surrounding the talented striker’s Bundesliga debut.
As Wolfsburg prepares for the upcoming season, all eyes will be on Amoura to see how he adapts to the demands of German football and contributes to his new club’s ambitions on the pitch.
