Ivorian forward Karim Konaté made a triumphant return to the scoresheet on Wednesday, contributing to RB Salzburg’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Wiener Viktoria in the Austrian Cup round of 16. The 20-year-old, who had recently returned from injury, made an immediate impact after coming off the bench, sealing his side’s comfortable passage to the next round of the competition.

The match, held at Wiener Viktoria’s home ground, saw RB Salzburg control proceedings from the start, taking a commanding 3-0 lead before Konaté was introduced in the 66th minute.

Just two minutes after stepping onto the pitch, the Ivorian striker found the back of the net, marking a perfect return to goal-scoring form after his time on the sidelines.

Salzburg had already dominated the game by the time Konaté entered, with goals from his teammates putting the result beyond doubt.

His well-taken strike in the 68th minute not only put the finishing touches on the team’s comprehensive victory but also marked a significant personal milestone for the young player, who had been eager to regain his scoring touch following his injury layoff.

Before his setback, Konaté had netted three goals in his previous appearances for the Austrian champions, and his latest effort brings his tally to four goals in just five outings across all competitions this season.

The return to goal-scoring form will undoubtedly boost his confidence as he continues to regain full match fitness.

For RB Salzburg, the win was another step forward in their quest for domestic silverware.

Dominating the match from start to finish, they showcased their depth and attacking prowess, with Konaté’s contribution underlining the strength in depth the Austrian giants possess.

The victory not only secured their progression to the next round of the Austrian Cup but also served as a reminder of the formidable talent within their ranks.

Speaking after the match, Konaté expressed his delight at getting back on the scoresheet.

“It feels great to score again,” he said. “After the injury, it took some time to find my rhythm, but today was a big step forward for me.

I’m happy to help the team, and I hope to keep contributing as we move forward in the season.”

RB Salzburg, a dominant force in Austrian football, will now look ahead to their next challenge in both domestic and European competitions, with Konaté poised to play an important role as they pursue success on multiple fronts.

With his injury woes behind him and a renewed sense of purpose, Karim Konaté’s return to form could not have come at a better time for both the player and his club, as they aim to continue their winning ways and challenge for top honors in the months ahead.
