Karim Dermane set to join Troyes as club strengthen midfield for Ligue 1 return

ESTAC Troyes are close to completing the signing of Karim Dermane from Lommel SK as they prepare for their return to Ligue 1.

The 22-year-old midfielder is expected to leave Belgium and the club where he developed in order to join Troyes on a long-term deal. The Togolese international is set to sign a four-year contract with the French club, according to Onze Mondial.

Dermane’s arrival would give Troyes another option in midfield as they assemble a squad capable of competing in the top flight. The deal has not yet been formally completed, but the player is expected to become the club’s latest summer addition.

The move follows an encouraging loan spell at Lorient last season. Dermane, who was developed by Feyenoord before joining Lommel SK, established himself as a regular starter in central midfield during his time in Brittany.

He played an important part as Lorient secured their return to Ligue 1. Despite his performances, Lorient decided not to activate the purchase option included in the loan agreement, leaving the way open for Troyes to pursue a permanent transfer.

Troyes believe Dermane can add both physical authority and valuable experience to their midfield. Although still only 22, he has already demonstrated his ability to perform at the highest level of French football after his successful campaign with Lorient.

The club will now hope he can reproduce that form in Troyes colours and continue to fulfil the potential he showed last season. Dermane is valued at €2.5m, while his contract with Lommel SK runs until 2028.

His expected arrival comes shortly before Troyes begin their Ligue 1 campaign. Their opening match will be against Paris FC, with the fixture scheduled to take place very soon as the French top-flight season gets under way.
