Karim Coulibaly: German-Ivorian Werder Bremen defender linked with Strasbourg move

Germany and Ivory Coast defender Karim Coulibaly is the subject of a rumoured move from Werder Bremen to French Ligue 1 club Strasbourg.

The 19-year-old centre-back has a reported market value of €28m, while the likelihood of the transfer is currently assessed at 66%. No transfer fee has been reported, and the proposed move has not been confirmed by either club.

Coulibaly has made 27 Bundesliga appearances for Werder Bremen, scoring once. He joined the club’s senior side from Werder Bremen Under-19s in July 2025 after helping the youth team win the German Under-19 Cup during the 2024-25 season.

Born in Oldenburg, Coulibaly stands 1.91m tall and is left-footed. He has represented Germany at Under-17 level and won the Torneio Internacional Algarve U17 with the country in 2024.

The centre-back remains under contract with Werder Bremen until 30 June 2029. Strasbourg’s reported interest therefore comes with the player tied to the Bundesliga club for three more seasons, with his current valuation placing him among the more significant potential sales in Werder’s squad.
