AC Milan are monitoring Werder Bremen centre-back Karim Coulibaly, with the highly rated teenager emerging as a potential defensive target for the Serie A side.

The 18-year-old, who holds German and Ivorian nationality, is being linked with a move from Bremen to Milan, according to transfer data placing the rumour in the current window. No fee has been agreed and the probability of a deal is currently listed as unclear, but Coulibaly’s market value is estimated at €8.00m, a figure likely to shape any negotiations between the clubs.

Coulibaly, a left-footed centre-back standing at 1.91m, only recently stepped up from Werder Bremen’s Under-19s to the senior set-up, having joined the club’s youth ranks from Hamburger SV’s academy in 2024. With no firm contract expiry date publicly available, there remains the theoretical possibility that his situation could evolve towards free-agent status in the future, adding another layer of intrigue to Milan’s reported interest.

Born in Oldenburg on 23 May 2007, Coulibaly has progressed through German youth football, featuring for Bramfelder SV, HSV Barmbek-Uhlenhorst and various Hamburger SV youth sides before his switch to Bremen. His rapid rise in valuation – climbing from €1.00m to €8.00m during 2025 – underlines how quickly he has come to be regarded as one of the more promising young defenders in the Bundesliga.

The link to Milan would represent his first move outside Germany and a step up to Serie A, where competition for defensive places is traditionally fierce. If a transfer were to materialise, it could mark a pivotal moment in Coulibaly’s development, offering a platform to enhance his reputation in European football and potentially shape the next phase of his career at the highest level.
