French football star Karim Benzema, renowned for his Algerian heritage, has announced plans to visit Algeria, specifically the hometown of his mother in Bejaia.
According to the National Radio’s website, Benzema, currently playing for Saudi club Al-Ittihad, is scheduled to arrive in Algeria on June 1st.
His itinerary includes a visit to Bejaia, followed by a trip to Oran, the city from which his father hails.
The report further confirms that Benzema will be in attendance for the pivotal Algeria vs. Guinea match, set for June 6th at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Baraki.
This match is part of the third round of qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
Adding to the excitement, it was also mentioned that this visit comes ahead of a planned trip by another French star with Algerian roots, Kylian Mbappe.
