Karim Benzema leaves Al-Hilal and becomes a free agent

Karim Benzema is once again a free agent after ending his short spell with Al-Hilal, just six months after arriving in Saudi Arabia.

The 38-year-old former Real Madrid striker now faces a big decision about the final chapter of his career.

According to Fabrizio Romano, retirement and a move to another Saudi club are the main options on the table, while a return to Europe is not expected. Benzema is set to announce his choice soon, and the next step will likely define how his remarkable career comes to an end.

His departure comes at a time when Al-Hilal have already moved quickly to reshape their attack, with Ollie Watkins arriving to strengthen the squad. That change only adds to the sense that Benzema’s exit is part of a wider transition at the club.

If he does decide to stop, Benzema will leave behind an outstanding legacy. He scored 354 goals for Real Madrid, won five Champions Leagues, four La Liga titles and the Ballon d’Or in 2022.

A move to MLS, a Saudi return or even one last adventure elsewhere could still tempt him, but for now the next move belongs to Benzema alone.
