Karim Benzema faces Al Hilal exit as club searches for a new striker

Al Hilal are considering ending Karim Benzema’s time at the club during the current season if they can sign another prolific striker in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Saudi journalist Ahmed Al-Ajlan reported that Al Hilal are examining the possibility of reaching a financial settlement with the France international. The proposal would allow the club to release Benzema if they successfully complete a deal for a new goalscorer.

The report comes a day after Benzema was involved in a dispute during Al Hilal’s 4-2 victory over Al-Faisaly in the opening round of the Roshn Saudi League. The former Real Madrid forward reacted angrily after being substituted in the 70th minute.

Benzema’s response has added to questions over his immediate future at Al Hilal, with the club now reportedly considering a change in their attacking options. Any decision would be linked to their ability to bring in a replacement capable of leading the line.

Al Hilal head coach Simone Inzaghi offered an explanation for Benzema’s frustration after the match. The Italian said it was understandable that the French striker wanted to remain on the pitch for as long as possible.

Inzaghi’s comments came after Al Hilal secured a four-goal win despite the late tension surrounding Benzema’s substitution. The incident has nevertheless led to speculation that the club could seek to move the forward on sooner than expected.

Benzema joined Al Hilal during the previous winter transfer window on a free transfer. His arrival followed the termination of his contract with Al-Ittihad, allowing him to move to another Saudi club without a transfer fee.

Since joining Al Hilal, Benzema has played 14 matches in all competitions. He has scored 10 goals and supplied five assists during that period, making a significant contribution to the team’s attack.

Despite those figures, Al Hilal are assessing whether to continue with the experienced striker or pursue a different solution in front of goal. The club’s willingness to consider a financial settlement would depend on securing the signing of a new goalscorer during the summer market.

For now, Benzema remains an Al Hilal player, but the reported plan places his future under scrutiny only one day after the substitution incident against Al-Faisaly. The club’s next move in the transfer window could determine whether the 14-match spell of the former Real Madrid striker continues or comes to an early end.
