Karim Adeyemi believes Borussia Dortmund are ready to turn last season’s surge into something lasting.
The winger, who played a key role in BVB’s remarkable climb from 11th place to a Champions League spot, says the squad is hungrier than ever under coach Niko Kovac.
For Adeyemi, last season’s revival showed the potential within the team, but he wants to see that spark across the full campaign. He admits that consistency has been missing in his time at the club, with frequent changes unsettling the squad. Yet this summer feels different.
“That’s difficult to say. I’d prefer that we give it our all throughout the season and consistently pick up points over 34 matchdays. We haven’t managed that yet in my time here. We’ve had a few changes in recent years, with many players coming and going,” said the 23-year-old.
“This summer, the team has largely stayed together, and with Jobe (Bellingham) we have a reinforcement. I’m convinced that if we grow together in Dortmund over a longer period of time, we can achieve a lot. This year, we want to compete for titles again – and hopefully win them.”
