Kano Pillars sign Nigeria midfielder Mustapha Jawad from Bayelsa

Nigeria midfielder Mustapha Jawad has joined Kano Pillars from Bayelsa, strengthening the NPFL club’s midfield options ahead of the new season.

The 22-year-old defensive midfielder switched clubs on 4 August 2026 after establishing himself in Nigeria’s top flight. Jawad has recorded 98 NPFL appearances, scoring five goals and providing five assists during his career.

Jawad’s experience at domestic level gives Kano Pillars a player with a substantial record in the competition. His statistics include 8,370 minutes of NPFL football, with an average of one goal every 1,674 minutes.

Born on 17 June 2004, Jawad stands 1.82m tall and is right-footed. He operates primarily in the holding midfield role, where his experience in the NPFL will be central to his adaptation at his new club.

His move brings him to Kano Pillars, an established name in Nigerian football and an NPFL side. The transfer also marks the latest step in a career that has so far been built in the domestic game, with Bayelsa his previous club.

Jawad’s arrival was registered on 4 August, making him a Kano Pillars player for the 2026-27 season. The club has secured the services of a young Nigerian midfielder whose senior record already includes nearly 100 appearances in the country’s leading competition.
