Kamel Abou Ali hints at exit as Al Masry stadium delays drag on
Al Masry president Kamel Abou Ali has signalled that he may step down from his role, frustrated by the continued delays to the club’s long-awaited new stadium project.
He described the stadium as a strategic priority for Al Masry and admitted he had hoped to see it completed years ago. Instead, almost four years after work began, progress remains slow and the site is still far from finished.
Abou Ali spoke during an inspection visit to the construction area, where he outlined how the stalled project is unsettling the entire club. Without a home ground, Al Masry are forced to move from venue to venue to play their “home” matches, creating constant logistical and sporting challenges for coaches and players alike. He believes that with a stable environment and a permanent stadium, the team could realistically have pushed for a better position in the league table this season.
He stressed that the absence of a dedicated ground is now blocking Al Masry’s broader sporting project and limiting the ambitions of their supporters. The stadium file has therefore become the central issue for the club’s hierarchy, given its direct link to long-term development and stability.
