Swedish club Kalmar FF have completed the signing of 19-year-old Ivorian midfielder Awaka Djoro on a one-year deal, AfricaSoccer.com can confirm
Djoro, who developed his skills at ASEC Mimosas’ prestigious academy in Cote d’Ivoire, brings a wealth of potential and talent to the team.
Starting his football journey with Cocody Elite Football in Cote d’Ivoire, Djoro transitioned to ASEC Mimosa’s academy at just 13 years old.
By 17, he had earned his spot in the first team, showcasing his impressive abilities.
Head coach Peter Swärdh expressed his excitement about the transfer, revealing that the club had been monitoring Djoro since 2022.
Despite initial plans to secure him earlier, the move was delayed due to knee surgery and subsequent rehabilitation.
Swärdh emphasized the club’s patience and belief in Djoro’s abilities, culminating in a mutually beneficial loan agreement with ASEC.
Djoro himself is eager to embrace this new chapter at Kalmar.
“The warm and welcoming atmosphere within the club has been incredible,” he said.
“I am committed to helping the team achieve great things and aim for a return to the Allsvenskan.”
With Djoro’s arrival, Kalmar continues to invest in promising talent, building a strong foundation for future success both on and off the pitch.
