Kalimuendo set for Forest return with Frankfurt unwilling to pay €27m
Nottingham Forest are poised to welcome back Arnaud Kalimuendo this summer, with Eintracht Frankfurt increasingly reluctant to activate the striker’s permanent transfer clause due to its €27 million valuation.
The French-Congolese joined the Bundesliga side on loan in January, with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.
While the French forward has made a strong impression in Germany, Frankfurt’s hierarchy are understood to view the agreed fee as excessive, despite his positive impact on the pitch.
The 24-year-old has delivered five goals and one assist across 11 starts, quickly adapting to the demands of German football and becoming a reliable attacking outlet.
His movement, finishing, and ability to link play have added a new dimension to Frankfurt’s frontline, prompting internal appreciation for his performances.
However, financial prudence appears set to outweigh sporting considerations. Frankfurt are satisfied with Kalimuendo’s contribution and would be open to retaining him under different terms, but the current valuation is regarded as beyond their comfort zone.
For Forest, the situation presents a potentially beneficial outcome. The Premier League club have closely monitored Kalimuendo’s progress during his loan spell and remain encouraged by both his form and continued connection to the club.
Loan manager Owen Coyle Jr recently underlined the player’s ongoing commitment to Forest, suggesting his reintegration into the squad remains a realistic scenario.
“He has gone over there, he is performing, he is scoring goals… but he is still very positive about his relationship with Forest.
“He talks to the other players regularly. He has been back to watch games.
“He is heavily invested in Forest. He will return in the summer and we will see where his future lies at Forest, within the squad plan.”
