Kalamata sign Ivory Coast midfielder Ben Zidane from FC Drita

Ivory Coast midfielder Ben Zidane has joined Greek club Kalamata from Kosovo champions FC Drita on a free transfer, bringing a new central presence to the Super League 1 side.

The 20-year-old has signed a contract with Kalamata until 30 June 2027 after leaving Drita, where he spent the 2025-26 season. His move was completed on 9 September 2026.

Zidane played 12 matches in the Kosovan top flight for Drita last season and provided one assist. He also featured in five Conference League games, as well as two matches in the Kupa e Kosoves and one in the Kosovan Super Cup.

His campaign ended with two winners’ medals. Drita claimed the Kosovan championship and the Kosovan Super Cup in 2025-26, with Zidane part of the squad for both successes.

A central midfielder by position, Zidane is left-footed and was born in Abobo, Ivory Coast. He stands 1.75m tall and began his senior career with French club SC Bastia, joining them from the Right to Dream academy on a free transfer in July 2024.

After one season in France, he moved to Drita in September 2025, also without a transfer fee. His switch to Kalamata represents a move from the Superliga e Kosoves to Greece’s Super League 1.

Zidane’s wider career record also includes 16 appearances, three goals and two assists in National 2 Group D, with 1,151 minutes played. He has now moved on after a season in which he combined domestic football with European competition and helped Drita secure two domestic trophies.

Kalamata have secured the Ivorian’s services without a fee, while the midfielder’s new agreement keeps him at the Greek club through the end of June 2027.
