Kaizer Chiefs to loan out Rwanda goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari after Renaldo Leaner signing
Rwanda international goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari could be set for a loan move away from Kaizer Chiefs following the club’s acquisition of highly-rated shot-stopper Renaldo Leaner ahead of the new season.
Ntwari’s future at Naturena has become increasingly uncertain as Chiefs continue to reshape their squad, with reports suggesting the 25-year-old could be allowed to leave temporarily in search of regular first-team football.
The Rwandan goalkeeper endured a difficult 2025/26 campaign at the Soweto giants, where injuries and off-field issues limited his impact after arriving from TS Galaxy.
His spell at Chiefs was further complicated by a reported disagreement with members of the coaching staff during a Carling Knockout Cup fixture against Stellenbosch FC. Ntwari allegedly refused to be substituted during the match, an incident that strained his relationship with then-coaches Cedric Kaze and Ben Youssef Khalil.
The goalkeeper’s season eventually came to an unfortunate end after he was sidelined through injury, spending the latter stages of the campaign in the medical room.
Chiefs’ recent signing of Renaldo Leaner has intensified competition in the goalkeeping department, leaving Ntwari facing an uphill battle for playing time.
Leaner joins an already crowded goalkeeping unit that includes Ntwari, Bruce Bvuma, Brandon Peterson and Bontle Molefe. However, Bvuma and Peterson have largely been the club’s preferred options, further limiting Ntwari’s chances of reclaiming a regular place between the posts.
With game time expected to be scarce, a loan move is increasingly viewed as the best solution for both player and club. Such a move would allow Ntwari to regain match fitness and confidence while continuing his development.
One potential destination is TS Galaxy, the club Chiefs signed him from. A return to familiar surroundings could offer the Rwandan international the opportunity to rediscover the form that earned him a move to one of South Africa’s biggest clubs.
While no official decision has been announced, speculation surrounding Ntwari’s future continues to grow as Kaizer Chiefs prepare for the 2026/27 season with renewed competition across the squad.
