Kaizer Chiefs name starting XI for Siwelele FC Betway Premiership clash

Kaizer Chiefs will attempt to return to winning ways when they host struggling Siwelele FC in a Betway Premiership fixture at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday.

The Amakhosi are unbeaten after their opening four matches and will be aiming to reclaim third place from AmaZulu while maintaining contact with early leaders Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Chiefs’ most recent match ended in a 2-2 draw against Richards Bay a couple of weeks ago. They will now look to turn their unbeaten start into another victory as they continue their early-season campaign.

There is greater pressure on the visitors, who remain in the bottom three and are still searching for their first win of the season.

Siwelele have taken two points from four matches, recording two draws and two defeats. Their latest away fixture ended in defeat by AmaZulu, leaving them with a difficult challenge against a Chiefs side that has yet to lose.

The Amakhosi have also been unable to overcome Siwelele during the current campaign. In the corresponding meeting last season at FNB Stadium, Chiefs were held to a frustrating goalless draw.

Siwelele did, however, claim victory in the most recent meeting between the teams in April. Former Chiefs midfielder Tebogo Potsane and Siphesihle Jeza scored two early first-half goals to give the visitors a win over the Amakhosi.

Kick-off at Dobsonville Stadium is scheduled for 17:30.

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed their starting line-up for the match. Petersen begins in goal, with Solomons, Kwinika, Miguel and Moloisane forming the defensive unit.

Maboe and Ndlovu are included in midfield, while Shabalala, Mmodi, Vilakazi and Duba complete the starting XI.

Chiefs’ substitutes are Leaner, Frosler, Cross, Mthethwa, Mtasingwa, Chislett, Ighodaro, Baartman and Abrahams.

Siwelele FC have not yet announced their team, with their line-up listed as TBA.

The match gives Chiefs the opportunity to build on their unbeaten opening to the Betway Premiership season and move back above AmaZulu in the standings. Siwelele, meanwhile, will be seeking a first victory after a difficult start that has left them in the bottom three with two points from four games.
