Kaizer Chiefs keep winning run alive as Golden Arrows hit nine

Kaizer Chiefs preserved their perfect start to the DStv Diski Challenge with a 1-0 victory away to Richards Bay, while Siwelele defeated defending champions Orlando Pirates and Lamontville Golden Arrows produced a 9-2 victory over Chippa United.

The match in Richards Bay was goalless at half-time, but Chiefs found the breakthrough after the interval when new signing Lesia Keitumetse scored. The goal secured a third consecutive win for Amakhosi and kept them at the top of the table.

Siwelele recovered from falling behind to claim a notable 2-1 victory against Orlando Pirates.

The defending champions took the lead in the first half through Junaid Vlotman. Lucky Muthewi restored parity for Siwelele shortly before the interval, leaving the sides level at the break.

After an hour, Lebohang Mobe put Siwelele ahead for the first time. Pirates could not find an equaliser as Siwelele held on to secure all three points.

Five-goal Gumede inspires Arrows

Lamontville Golden Arrows recorded their second win of the season in emphatic fashion, taking a 5-1 lead into half-time against Dan Malesela’s Chippa United.

Abafana Bes’thende, led by Zandile Fikizolo, continued their attacking display after the break by adding four more goals. Chippa United scored once in the second half, but Golden Arrows completed a 9-2 victory.

Kwandile “Diego” Gumede was the outstanding performer, scoring five times for Abafana Bes’thende.

The result was a second successive defeat for Malesela’s side, while Golden Arrows recorded their second victory of the campaign.

Elsewhere, AmaZulu were held to a goalless draw by TS Galaxy away from home. Usuthu remain unbeaten this season, but the dropped points allowed Chiefs to move above them at the top of the log.
