South African outfit Kaizer Chiefs are closing in on the acquisition of defender Nkanyiso Shinga from Portuguese side Alverca in the ongoing transfer window.
The Soweto giants are in the hunt for a new left-back following the departure of Thatayaone Ditlhokwe. The Botswana international left Kaizer Chiefs in February to join Libyan giants Al Ittihad, creating a void in the left-back position.
However, the club has settled on Nkanyiso Shinga, who has been playing in Portugal since 2018. Currently, negotiation is in advanced stage, with the player expected to make a return to South Africa this summer.
Despite Alverca’s promotion to the Portuguese top-flight, the enterprising left-back is eager to return home and don the famous Kaizer Chiefs jersey.
With his contract expiring on June 30 and no contract renewal talks, the defender is expected to depart the club as a free agent.
Known for his impressive display as a full back, he would be a great addition to the Kaizer Chiefs squad heading into the new season.
