Kaizer Chiefs express firm interest in South Africa and Sekhukhune United goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner
South Africa and Sekhukhune United goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner has emerged as a top transfer target for Kaizer Chiefs in the ongoing transfer window.
The Soweto giants are augmenting their squad for the new season in an attempt to compete for laurels. Despite ending their 10-year trophy drought, Kaizer Chiefs finished out of the top eight in the Premier League.
Following a strong finish to the 2024/25 football campaign, the enterprising shot stopper has been increasingly linked with a potential move to the Amakhosi outfit.
The 27-year-old keeper impressed with his performances in the Premier League and for Bafana Bafana, with Kaizer Chiefs expressing interest in signing Leaner amid speculation about the departure of goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari.
Despite their firm interest in the shot stopper, no official approach has yet been made to Sekhukhune United.
Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi is said to be a huge admirer of the goalkeeper. He rates his potential highly, especially after his confident displays at the end of the 2024/25 season.
Leaner could become a crucial reinforcement between the posts for the club if the deal goes through.
