Kaizer Chiefs discover CAF Confederation Cup qualifying opponents

Kaizer Chiefs will face either Red Arrows FC of Zambia or FC Rouge of Burundi in the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup, while Durban City FC have been drawn against Rukinzo FC.

The draw, hosted by CAF on Thursday, confirmed the potential routes for the two South African clubs as they begin their campaigns in the competition.

Kaizer Chiefs are exempt from the first preliminary round, meaning their opening tie will be against the winner of the match between Red Arrows FC and FC Rouge.

Durban City FC must first overcome Rukinzo FC to advance. Should they progress, they will meet the winner of the tie between AS Port Louis 2000 of Mauritius and Jwaneng Galaxy FC of Botswana.

The first preliminary-round matches are scheduled to take place between 4 and 6 September 2026, with the return legs set for 11 to 13 September. The second preliminary-round ties will then be played from 16 to 18 October, followed by the second legs between 23 and 25 October.
