Kaizer Chiefs coach Fernando Da Cruz open to new signings ahead of winter window

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando da Cruz says he is satisfied with the squad at his disposal but remains open to strengthening the team if the right player becomes available.

The French coach believes the squad is taking shape and showing encouraging signs on the pitch despite some disappointing results.

Da Cruz insists, however, that Chiefs will only consider bringing in new players if they can make a meaningful contribution to the team rather than signing players simply for the sake of adding numbers.

“No, I am happy with the squad that I have,” said Da Cruz.

“If a player is going to arrive, I think I would take the opportunity, but I don’t want to take a player to take him. If it is to take someone, it is someone that will be useful.

“For the moment, I am very happy with the squad that we have. We are moving forward; we are disappointed with the result.

“But we are on the right path in terms of the quality of the game, in terms of the modelling of the game, in terms of what we want to show. We must continue, we must not give up.”

Da Cruz’s comments suggest that while Chiefs are not actively looking to overhaul their squad, the club could still make additions should a player who fits the coach’s requirements become available.

The coach is also encouraged by the progress being made in terms of the team’s playing style and tactical approach. Despite the frustration over recent results, he believes Chiefs are moving in the right direction.

For Da Cruz, the priority is to build on the positive aspects of the team’s performances while remaining patient with the process.

Rather than making unnecessary signings, the coach wants any new arrival to bring quality, competition and value to the squad as Chiefs continue their campaign.
