Kaizer Chiefs coach Cedric Kaze provides positive injury update on Gaston Sirino
Interim Kaizer Chiefs manager Cedric Kaze has provided a positive injury update on midfielder Gaston Sirino, downplaying the severity of the injury.
The nippy Uruguayan midfielder returned to the team after missing the sides CAF Confederation Cup group stage opener due to suspension.
Unfortunately, the former Mamelodi Sundowns star succumbed to injury and was stretched off after just 15 minutes into their game against Zamalek at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Providing an injury update, Cedric Kaze allayed fears as the injury to the former Mamelodi Sundowns player was not as severe.
“It was a knock and we’re going to assess him tonight and tomorrow to examine the extent of his injury, but I don’t think it’s something very big,” Kaze told SABC Sport after the match.
Sirino went off alongside his team-mate Bradley Cross who felt pain after colliding with Zamalek attacker early on.
These substitutes saw Kaizer Chiefs game plan go pear shape as it became an uphill battle from there on.
“Ok, the game didn’t go in our favour from the first minute, we conceded after three minutes, we have to make our two substitutions after 15 minutes we had already two substitutions, but we kept believing that we could come back,” Kaze said after the 1-1 draw.
