Kaizer Chiefs bolster goalkeeping department with signing of Renaldo Leaner
Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner as a free agent, strengthening their options between the posts ahead of the new campaign.
The shot-stopper joins Amakhosi after parting ways with Sekhukhune United, where he impressed with his performances and consistency. His arrival adds further depth and competition in a key area for the Soweto giants.
Leaner is expected to battle for the number one jersey alongside Brandon Peterson, Bruce Bvuma, and Fiacre Ntwari, setting up an intriguing competition for the starting role as Chiefs look to solidify their defensive unit.
Announcing the signing, the club expressed their excitement at welcoming the new addition to Naturena.
“Leaner becomes a Khosi. Kaizer Chiefs have strengthened their goalkeeping department with the signing of renowned shot-stopper Renaldo Leaner. We proudly welcome Renaldo to the Khosi Nation,” the club wrote.
The move forms part of Chiefs’ ongoing efforts to reinforce their squad and improve competitiveness as they aim to challenge for domestic honours in the upcoming season. Leaner’s experience in the South African top flight is expected to bring stability and increased competition within the squad.
