Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Nabi has jumped to the defense of head coach Nasreddine Nabi amid growing pressure at the club.
The Soweto-based outfit has been inconsistent throughout the South African Premier League campaign, leaving them in the 9th position with 30 points after 26 matches into the campaign.
But his assistant has stepped up to shield their boss from mounting criticism, stressing judgments are being made too early.
“But he has a wealth of experience, having coached in many countries and with numerous teams. He understands the expectations. He also knows the challenges we’re facing. This gives him the tools to prepare for what lies ahead.
Sometimes, perhaps, he doesn’t understand the harsh judgments, which he feels are premature. But in football—and not only in South Africa—we’ve learned that judgments come very quickly, especially from outsiders who have the privilege to comment once the results are in,” Cedric stated.
Kaizer Chiefs have set up a tie against rivals Orlando Pirates in the South African Cup final on Saturday, as they seeks to secure first title since 2015.
