Lyon win race for highly rated winger Kaïl Boudache amid international switch

Kaïl Boudache has taken a significant step in both his international and club career, committing to Algeria at youth level while moving closer to a transfer from OGC Nice to Olympique Lyonnais.

The 19 year old winger, who previously represented France at U17 level, recently confirmed his decision to switch international allegiance to Algeria.

That change has already been followed by his first selection for the Algeria U23 squad, who will gather in June for a training camp ahead of September’s Africa U23 Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Alongside his international breakthrough, Boudache has also been at the centre of transfer activity in France.

An agreement had already been reached between OGC Nice and Olympique Lyonnais for a summer move, but Nice made a late attempt to keep hold of the player by offering him a new contract, including professional terms.

Despite that renewed effort, the winger has rejected Nice’s proposal and is now expected to complete a move to Lyon in the coming days.

The decision marks a setback for Nice, who had hoped to retain one of their most promising young talents. Lyon, however, have moved decisively to secure his signature after facing competition from several other French clubs.

Boudache’s rise in recent months has attracted significant attention within French football. Since making an impression earlier this year, he has been praised for his technical ability, close control, and confidence in one against one situations.

His dribbling skills and direct style of play have made him one of the more closely watched young attackers in his age group.

According to Foot Mercato, the winger is expected to sign a contract of more than three years with Olympique Lyonnais, underlining the club’s belief in his long term potential.
