Jwaneng Galaxy appoint Belgian Ivan Minnaert as head coach on one-year deal
Jwaneng Galaxy have appointed experienced Belgian tactician Ivan Minnaert as their new head coach on a one-year contract, with an option to extend, as the Botswana Premier League side usher in what officials are describing as a “new era” at the club.
The UEFA Pro Licence holder arrives with more than 25 years of coaching experience spanning Europe and Africa, and a résumé that includes league titles in Uganda and Liberia, underlining his reputation as one of the continent’s well-travelled and seasoned coaches.
Minnaert, who has previously managed clubs in Spain, Rwanda, Kenya, Guinea, Libya and South Africa, is widely regarded for his adaptability and extensive exposure to African football.
His appointment is expected to bring both structure and continental experience to a Galaxy side aiming to strengthen its domestic and regional ambitions.
Club officials believe the Belgian’s pedigree and tactical knowledge will be key as they look to build on recent progress and maintain their standing among Botswana’s leading football teams.
In a brief statement, the club welcomed the new coach and signalled optimism about the direction ahead, framing the move as the beginning of a fresh chapter.
Minnaert’s arrival continues Galaxy’s trend of appointing high-profile and internationally experienced coaches as they seek to consolidate their status and push for further success in both league and continental competitions.
