Juventus join pursuit of Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou amid Al Hilal uncertainty

Juventus have reportedly entered the race to sign Morocco international goalkeeper Yassine Bounou as doubts continue to surround his future with Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal.

According to Al Jazeera Sports, the Italian giants are monitoring the experienced shot-stopper and could make a move worth around €9 million as speculation over his role at Al Hilal intensifies.

Reports suggest the Saudi club are considering changes to their squad registration ahead of the new season, a move that could affect Bounou’s place in domestic competitions.

Saudi outlet Koora reported that Al Hilal are weighing up the possibility of registering the Moroccan goalkeeper exclusively for the AFC Champions League Elite while handing Saudi international Mohammed Al Owais the starting role in league matches.

The reported plan is linked to Al Hilal’s efforts to reshape their squad following the anticipated arrival of Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville from West Ham United.

Using Al Owais in domestic competition would reportedly free up a foreign-player slot, giving the club greater flexibility in assembling its squad for the Saudi Pro League.

However, Al Jazeera Sports reports that Bounou is not prepared to accept a role limited to continental football, a position that could pave the way for his departure despite having a contract with Al Hilal until 2028.

The 35-year-old’s future has become a subject of growing interest across Europe following another impressive international campaign with Morocco.

Bounou played a key role in helping the Atlas Lions reach the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, producing several important saves during the tournament.
