Juventus injury blow deepens as Kenan Yıldız undergoes left-foot operation
Juventus forward Kenan Yıldız has undergone surgery to repair a fracture at the base of the fifth metatarsal in his left foot, with the teenager expected to be out for between two and three months.
The club confirmed the operation after Yıldız was injured during Juventus’ opening Serie A fixture against Frosinone. It became clear soon after the incident that the Turkey international would require surgery and face a lengthy period on the sidelines.
Juventus did not provide a specific recovery timetable in its statement. However, Football Italia reported that Yıldız is expected to miss approximately two to three months before returning to competitive action.
The operation was carried out at the Hessingpark Clinic in Augsburg by surgeon Martin Jordan, with Juventus club doctor Marco Frischke also present.
Yıldız is expected to begin his rehabilitation programme within the next 24 to 48 hours. His recovery will be monitored by the club’s medical staff as he works towards a return to training and match fitness.
The injury represents a setback for Yıldız, who had been involved with Juventus at the start of the Serie A campaign. The club now faces a prolonged period without one of its young attacking players.
Juventus also received further negative news after Jeff Ekhator underwent medical examinations that revealed a moderate injury to the semitendinosus muscle in his right thigh.
Ekhator’s latest problem is another blow after the player was injured shortly after completing his move from Genoa. He will undergo additional tests in two weeks, when the club expects to have a clearer indication of the precise recovery period.
His absence is also expected to last for about two months, although Juventus will wait for the follow-up examinations before confirming the timeframe.
The two injuries leave Juventus managing separate long-term rehabilitation programmes at the same time. Yıldız’s condition requires immediate post-operative recovery, while Ekhator’s treatment plan will be assessed further after his next round of tests.
