Patrice Evra Reflects on Paul Pogba’s Emotional Manchester United Exit
Since joining Juventus in June, Patrice Evra has quickly become a respected voice in the locker room. His strong personality and leadership, honed at Manchester United and the French national team, have resonated with his teammates—especially Paul Pogba, with whom he shares a long-standing bond.
Evra recently opened up about the emotional final days of Pogba’s time at Manchester United, revealing how deeply conflicted the young midfielder was before his departure in 2012:
“Sir Alex Ferguson sent me to Pogba’s house to convince him to stay. He was crying, he couldn’t sleep, because he knew he could be better than Vieira in Manchester, but he had already made his choice,” Evra recounted.
Pogba, born on March 15, 1993, officially signed with Juventus on August 3, 2012, in a move that would ultimately launch him into superstardom. He debuted for the Bianconeri during Serie A matchday 4 against Chievo Verona, beginning a chapter that saw him develop into one of the most sought-after midfielders in world football.
Evra’s recollection offers a rare, personal glimpse into Pogba’s difficult decision to leave Old Trafford—a move that, while painful at the time, would define his early career.
