Justin Njinmah: Southampton eye move for Germany-Nigeria winger from Werder Bremen
Southampton are exploring a move for Germany-Nigeria right winger Justin Njinmah from Werder Bremen as they look to bolster their attacking options for the Championship campaign.
The 25-year-old, who was born in Hamburg and represents Bremen wearing the No. 11 shirt, has been identified as a potential wide addition, with the likelihood of a deal currently rated at 28%. Njinmah is valued at around €5 million, a figure that would represent a significant outlay but remains within reach for a club pushing for promotion back to the Premier League.
Njinmah has established himself in the Bundesliga with Bremen, making 84 appearances in Germany’s top flight and scoring 14 goals. His performances at senior level followed a prolific spell further down the pyramid, including 18 goals in 50 outings in the 3. Liga and another 18 strikes in 29 games in the Regionalliga Nord.
Bremen brought Njinmah into their first-team set-up in January 2022, promoting him from Werder Bremen II before loaning him to Borussia Dortmund II and then recalling him in the summer of 2023. He has since developed into a regular attacking option on the right, operating predominantly on his favoured right foot.
With no clear end date publicly set on his current deal, Bremen are not under obvious pressure to sell, which could complicate Southampton’s pursuit. For now, the German club are believed to be braced for interest in a player whose value has risen from below €1 million to a peak of €9 million during his time on the Weser.
