Jurgen Klopp shares emotional message to Mohamed Salah after Liverpool exit announcement
Jurgen Klopp has revealed he messaged Mohamed Salah immediately after watching the video confirming the forward will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.
“I heard that Mo was going to leave,” Klopp said. “Then I saw the video. I am already in a different perspective because I watch from the outside. So I texted him what I thought in that moment. I can sum it up: ‘I am really happy and proud that I was part of the whole journey.’”
Klopp admitted that their relationship was not always smooth, pointing to the touchline row at West Ham in April 2024 as one flashpoint. “We both know that we had these arguments… five seconds later, we would have thought: ‘No, we don’t do that in public, come on, rewind,’” he reflected, stressing the incident never damaged their underlying respect.
He spoke warmly about managing Salah and Sadio Mané together, calling “special players” a constant challenge and joking that Roberto Firmino was the rare exception.
