Junior Mwanga returns to Le Havre on permanent deal

Junior Mwanga is heading back to Le Havre on a permanent deal after a successful loan spell in Normandy.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who had been borrowed by the club at the start of 2025, is set to sign a four-year contract as the HAC make his move official.

Le Havre will pay about €1.5 million, before bonuses, to secure him from Strasbourg. Mwanga is already in Normandy and is due to undergo his medical before the transfer is completed. His return makes sense for both sides, because he already settled well during his earlier stay and gave the team reliable minutes in Ligue 1.

Between January and May 2025, he started 13 league matches for Le Havre, leaving a strong enough impression for the club to act quickly this summer. Strasbourg had signed him from Bordeaux for €12 million in June 2023, but he never truly established himself in Alsace and struggled to build momentum after a short loan at Nantes as well.

For Le Havre, this is a low-risk, high-upside signing. For Mwanga, it is a chance to restart in a place where he already knows the expectations and the rhythm of the club.
