Junior Mwanga: France-DR Congo midfielder joins Le Havre from Strasbourg in €1.5m deal
France-DR Congo defensive midfielder Junior Mwanga has joined Le Havre AC from Ligue 1 rivals Strasbourg in a permanent €1.5m transfer. The 23-year-old has signed a contract at Stade Oceane running until 30 June 2030.
Mwanga returns to Le Havre after spending the second half of the 2024-25 season there on loan from Strasbourg. He made his initial move to the Alsace club from Bordeaux in August 2023 for €10m and has since established himself in the French top flight.
Comfortable on either foot and standing at 1.84m, Mwanga has already accumulated 62 Ligue 1 appearances, scoring three goals and providing four assists, as well as experience in European competition through Conference League qualifying ties. His versatility at the base of midfield adds depth to a Le Havre side competing in the same division as his former club.
Born in Lyon on 11 May 2003, Mwanga came through the Bordeaux youth system, progressing from their U17s to the B team and then the first team before his transfer to Strasbourg. He also featured regularly in Ligue 2 and the Coupe de France during his time with the Girondins, building a reputation as a reliable presence in front of the back four.
Mwanga’s move, completed on 29 July 2026, sees Le Havre secure the long-term services of a player whose current market value is listed at €6m, tying him to the club for the next four seasons.
