Junior Malanda’s season in the Bundesliga has been abruptly ended due to a serious knee injury sustained during Wolfsburg’s German Cup semi-final match against Borussia Dortmund (2-0). The midfielder suffered a torn internal ligament and a sprained cruciate ligament, dealing a significant blow to the Belgian player of Congolese origin (DRC), who had earned a starting position at Wolfsburg since joining the club in January.
Reflecting on his time at Wolfsburg, Malanda expressed surprise at how quickly he adapted to the level of play in Germany compared to Belgium. He particularly appreciated the opportunity to play alongside Luiz Gustavo. However, the injury has now forced him to face his first major setback in his career. Despite this setback, Malanda has no regrets about his decision to leave Zulte Waregem in January, affirming his belief that it was the right choice for his career.
