It seems that the July 5 stadium in Algeria has been in a poor state, particularly the condition of the pitch. The Algerian Minister of Youth and Sports, Mohamed Tahmi, has expressed concern about the state of the stadium and announced its closure for two or three months for necessary renovations.
The minister emphasized that the current condition of the pitch is unacceptable for hosting football matches, and he wants to address the issue definitively. He stated that the closure is to avoid makeshift solutions and that the goal is to resolve the problems related to the lawn, its maintenance, and the evacuation pipes.
Mohamed Tahmi also mentioned that national expertise will be employed for the renovation work, indicating a desire to ensure a lasting solution to the issues affecting the stadium. He highlighted the capabilities, means, and skills available in Algeria to have excellent grass fields, pointing to successful examples in other locations like Sidi-Moussa or Blida.
The renovation of the stadium had previously been entrusted to a Dutch company, but it seems that the current state of the pitch prompted the decision to take further action and involve national expertise in the renovation process.
