Julian Etse signs professional contract at Eintracht Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt have rewarded Julian Etse with a professional contract after the centre-back made rapid progress since arriving from SSV Ulm 1846 this summer.

The 20-year-old was initially expected to play mainly for the club’s under-21 side, but his strong early development has already earned him a promotion.

Etse trained regularly with the senior squad during preseason under head coach Adi Hutter. The 1.92-metre left-footed defender also travelled to the training camp in Grassau and featured in friendly matches. He was included in Frankfurt’s squad for the German Cup opener against SC St. Tonis, although he remained on the bench during the 11-0 victory.

The German-Ghanaian began his development at VfL Bochum, where he spent seven years before moving to Ulm. During the second half of last season, he joined TSV Steinbach on loan and established himself as a regular, making twelve appearances.

Etse has also featured four times for Frankfurt’s under-21 team in the Regionalliga Sudwest this season. Sporting director Timmo Hardung highlighted his size, strength and mentality. Despite the new contract, Etse will continue gaining experience with the reserves and be introduced to professional football “step by step.”
