Jules Kounde’s Barcelona future attracts interest

Jules Kounde’s representative, Jonathan Kebe, visited Barcelona’s Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper on Wednesday, attracting attention amid growing interest in the French defender.

Cameras from Jijantes recorded the meeting shortly after Kounde returned to training following his extended post-World Cup holiday.

The visit has encouraged fresh speculation about the 27-year-old’s future. Kounde signed a contract extension with Barcelona last summer that runs until 2030, and he has publicly reiterated his desire to “help Barcelona as much as possible.” Nevertheless, Bayern Munich, Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City continue to monitor his situation.

Barcelona’s sporting plans could also influence Kounde’s role. The club are reportedly considering using him more regularly at centre-back, his natural position, rather than primarily at right-back. Ronald Araujo’s recent move to Liverpool has created space in the heart of the defence, while young defender Xavi Espart impressed during pre-season.

Eric Garcia’s ability to cover the flank could further support the tactical adjustment, allowing Kounde to become a central figure in defence. His pace, reading of the game and experience make him a valuable option for the coming campaign.

Despite outside interest, no concrete offer has been reported, leaving Barcelona hopeful that Koundé remains an important part of the squad.
