Jules Kounde didn’t hold back after Barcelona advanced to the Champions League semi-finals, despite a 2-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund in the second leg.
Their dominant 4-0 win at home ensured qualification, but the French defender was far from satisfied with the showing in Germany.
“Reaching the semi-finals was a major goal we set ourselves at the start of the season, and we have to appreciate that. But to be honest, I’m disappointed. We lacked aggression, pressing, concentration, the ability to win our duels and intercept passes. After the break, we started to do what the coach asked of us, but over the whole 90 minutes, it just wasn’t enough,” said the French defender.
“I’m disappointed with our match because I know this team can play much better. That said, qualifying for the semi-finals is exciting. We dream of winning the Champions League. We must be happy and proud of the work we’ve done since the start of the season,”
Barcelona now turn their focus to the next stage, hoping for a sharper performance as the competition heats up.
