Jules Kounde admits PSG proved their strength in Barcelona defeat
Jules Kounde spoke with honesty after Barcelona’s 2-1 loss to Paris Saint-Germain at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, admitting that the French giants proved their status as European champions.
“I’m not surprised. Today PSG showed they are the champions of Europe… They were superior today,” Kounde said after the final whistle.
Barcelona had started brightly, with Ferran Torres giving them the lead and sparking celebrations among the home fans. PSG, however, quickly found their rhythm. Youngster Senny Mayulu grabbed the equalizer before the Parisians seized full control. Barcelona’s attempts to press high faltered as their opponents moved the ball with power and precision.
“I think in terms of ball possession, they were physically superior. We also didn’t succeed in pressing as we wanted,” Kounde explained, highlighting Barcelona’s struggles throughout the evening.
As time ticked away, PSG’s pressure mounted. A swift counter-attack broke the Catalans’ resistance when Achraf Hakimi delivered a perfect cross for Goncalo Ramos, who calmly struck home the 90th-minute winner.
“I believe there was a lack in everything this evening, and we should also commend that they put on a great performance,” Kounde added.
