Juan Bezerra reveals Zamalek dispute over proposed record transfer

Juan Bezerra has accused Zamalek of breaking a promise to sell him after the Egyptian club received what he described as a major offer during the current summer transfer window.

The Brazilian, whose contract with Zamalek runs until the summer of 2029, made his feelings public in an emotional message to supporters on Instagram.

“I am speaking directly to the Zamalek fans, from the heart, so that you know exactly what is happening,” Bezerra wrote.

Bezerra joined Zamalek in the second half of 2025 and said he had quickly developed a strong bond with the club’s supporters.

“Since I arrived at Zamalek in the second half of 2025, a relationship of harmony has grown between us. It is a feeling I had not experienced with any supporters since I left Vasco, the club that made me as a player,” he said.

The 2029 contract-holder said his time at the club had not been straightforward, but that he had rejected important offers towards the end of last year because he wanted to help Zamalek win the league title.

“The journey was not easy. Many things happened that I will not reveal, at least for now, because I do not want to embarrass the club or the people who work there. But because of you, I remained strong, and I even rejected important offers at the end of last year,” Bezerra added.

“I did not even want to hear the offers. I knew I could not leave the club at that moment and leave you behind. I needed to complete my mission, which was to help the club win the league title, and we succeeded in doing that together. I do not regret for even a second my decision to stay with you.”

Bezerra then claimed Zamalek had repeatedly promised him and his father that the club would agree to sell him, while also setting a fee for the transfer.

“After that, the club promised me and my father, more than once, that it would sell me, and it had already set the value of the deal. I do not think it is appropriate to reveal that amount, but it would have become the biggest sale in the club’s history,” he said.

According to Bezerra, the offer eventually arrived but Zamalek did not honour the agreement.

“That offer arrived, but the club is not keeping the promise it made to me. Once again, it is not respecting what was agreed with me, as happened in other situations I have referred to before. I will not speak about their details now,” he said.

The player said he would not accept the club refusing to follow through on its commitment, arguing that the transfer would serve both his own career and Zamalek’s financial interests.

“But this time, I will not accept them failing to keep their word. This is not only because of my professional goals, but also because Zamalek needs the money from this deal to organise its financial situation and to ensure that the professional players who remain at the club do not face the same difficulties I faced,” Bezerra said.

He concluded by saying supporters had been given an inaccurate impression of the dispute.

“You had to hear this explanation directly from me, because they are portraying me as the one at fault in this story. All I can say is that my conscience is clear, because I did everything correctly from the beginning to the end,” he wrote.
